What’s on Hervey Bay’s very own acoustic roots musician Sam West, will launch his second album Circles at the Beach House Hotel on Friday at 8pm. Sam will perform both his albums - It’s Alright and Circles - live and in full. In the last four years, Sam’s appeared on Australia’s Got Talent, secured two silver medals for Australia at the 2011 World Championships of Performing Arts in LA, and picked up an endorsement from Cole Clark Guitars along the way. “Love, loss, family, pets, happiness, freedom, relationships, births, deaths, and heartbreak: they’ve all helped shape me into the person I am today,” Sam explained. “My songs come from the heart and I need to live my life 100% – so that I have things to write about!” A barrel of laughs and chances to win Residents should head down to the stage at Scarness, just opposite the Beach House Hotel, for the fi nal nights of the annual Hervey Bay Local Ambulance Committee’s Goods Wheel. The wheel spins every night from 7pm onwards until the last night on January 3 and there are hundreds of prizes to be won. Tickets are just 50 cents each and there are approximately 30 spins held each night. Where to go and what to do for fun School holiday fun is ‘out of the box’ The Hervey Bay Regional Gallery is the place to be these holidays with a range of art activities available for children of all ages. On January 7, Rachel the “happy hippie” will return to teach kids of all ages the joys of tie dying their own clothing. Rachel will show children all the tricks to create a rainbow of colours on a singlet, t-shirt or cloth. On January 14, participants will learn how to create their own jewellery through beading while on January 21, the Hervey Bay Spinners, Weavers and Dyers will host a paper making workshop. The classes are a great chance for kids to learn how to make natural silk paper from scratch and take their creation home. Tickets cost just $15 per person per session and bookings are essential by calling 4197 4206.
