They are homes for vermin, of both the critter and human kind. The Greens say they hold back erosion, but a close perusal shows that all their twisted, gnarled forms do is hold back plenty of rubbish and block the views over the Bay. How many Greenies would plant a mass of them in their front garden? Hideous! I am a specialist in coastal erosion and oceanography. My research fi ndings indicate that the immediate coastal sections of the Bay are heavily silted-up with ever-increasing sand deposits. This was how Fraser Is was formed. I have walked from the Urangan pier to the creek at Pialba, along the low-tide, outer sand bar. This mass of sand is continually pushed in and out by the sea. Hence the coastline suffers a constant build up, mixed with a constant wash-out. But the sand mass is inexorably increasing. The Dutch could easily reclaim at least half of our silted up Bay, with a 3m dyke. Greenies, it is all so NATURALE! Max Henry Pialba Christmas ponderings I read a quote in our village monthly information paper last week. It read “ May the Spirit of Christmas bring you Peace, The Gladness of Christmas give you hope, And the Warmth of Christmas grant you Love.” I got to wondering what this anonymous writer was trying to say to us really. After consulting the dictionary, to fi nd the meanings of the main words of the quote, I came up with this diagnoses. In conveying the Christmas message, may you fi nd freedom and tranquillity and mental calm. The joy and the news of events give you expectations and clinging to the possibilities of Christmas. The emotional feeling of Christmas grant you affection and fondness, conveying an affectionate message to all. Yes I feel the writer did convey all our Christmas hopes, but I like the inner meanings of the words as we may forget The real meaning of the Spirit of Christmas. Sandra Hicks Pialba Wasting rate payer money For some months now I have been observing street lights around the town. The council obviously has far too much cash, some of the street lights NEVER go out but are left to shine day in day out using electricity which no doubt we pay for. Some lights have shone nonstop for TWO MONTHS? Is there a good reason for this or is it straight out ineffi ciency ? West Hill Kawungan What’s on your mind? My grandfather, an ANZAC soldier from WWI, was born in the 1890s. I knew his mother up to my fi fth birthday when she went in 1959 - she was a lady born in the 1870s. Choices were real simple (back then) with resilience and guts already instilled in most Queenslanders, Australians and New Zealand ANZACs. It’s hard for anyone to relate to national and local politicians of today - for example with council division fi ve now Mr Resilience many can now see the arrogance and contempt for those who they represent reading between the lines of their symbolic press statements and body language. Long live Australia’s freedom. $5 OFF ALL GUMMIE SANDALS SAVE $52 Callaway Starter Gift Set NOW $2995 GolfBuddy PT4 GPS ONLY $447 $ 16390 SAVE Wilson Profile XLS Package Package NOW $525 11pc set with Putter and Prostaff Bag UP TO $ 6575 SAVE PowerBilt Callaway X2 Hot & X2 Hot Plus 12pk Balls ANY 2 FOR $45 OR ANY 5 FOR $99 Junior Packages FROM $149.95 Orange, Blue, Red and Silv available in left handed PLUS MANY MORE GREAT OFFERS IN-STORE OR ONLINE HERVEY BAY SHOP 2/101 BEACH ROAD PH: 4194 5582 $ 2195 SAVE $ 3095 SAVE Golfcraft Sportec Men’s Shoes ONLY $48 Callaway Chev Organiser Cart Bag ONLY $169 SUITS AGES 3 - 5 SUITS AGES 5 - 8 SUITS AGES 5 - 8 $ 2095 SAVE Big Max IQ Plus Buggy ONLY $249 SUITS AGES 9 - 12 SUITS AGES 12+ *Savings off normal selling prices, while stocks last.
