Hervey Bay Curves ran a Girls Night In event on a Friday night during October’s Pink Ribbon month for members and guests, with the aim to raise funds for vital breast and gynaecological cancer research, prevention and support services. Women’s fi Around 90 ladies attended the night and enjoyed a fashion parade by Noni B, an education awareness session by Breast Care Nurse, Angela Wotherspoon, from Wide Bay Health and Hospital Services. This was followed by a cent sale with more than 100 prizes generously donated by local businesses and members. This year, Curves’ clubs across Australia were striving to meet the fundraising goal of $150,000, and local Curves owner, Kylie Brown, said the Hervey Bay club raised $1328 on the night which was a fantastic effort. “Curves clubs have been fundraising for Cancer Council for the past eight years and have raised more than $1.5 million,” she said. “The funds raised help Cancer Council support women affected by breast and gynaecological cancers through cancer research, prevention programs and support services. “Excess weight, lack of physical activity and an unhealthy diet are among the most preventable causes of disease.
