Facebook Find us on PH: 4194 1524 3/8–10 Boat Harbour Drive, Pialba www.fulcrumfrasercoast.com.au Organiser Gary Pearce, who lost his father Col to cancer around fi ve years ago, said more than 300 people participated in the fun triathlon, which included a 300m swim, 10km bike ride and a 3km run or walk. “The triathlon was named after dad when we lost him,” Gary said. “He was always involved but he never raced. He couldn’t understand why any of us did it.” In fact Col only started taking part in the triathlon when he was ill - a benchmark set for anyone who believes it is too hard. “As soon as I tell people my dad did the ride when he was doing chemo they realise they could probably do it. We had a guy in his 80s do the run with the aid of a walking stick. People think it takes hours but this year not one team went over an hour.” Gary is already gearing up for next year’s event on April 19. Participants can register teams online at www.colpearcetriathlon. com.au. Hervey Bay Triathlon Club’s next main event is the Hervey Bay Hundred, planned for November 22-23, which includes children’s races. Go to www.hb100.com.au.
